Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tusker House Restaurant
Tusker House is a Walt Disney World operated Restaurant in the Harambe village in the Africa area of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This seemingly fictitious village has been brought to life by Walt Disney Imagineering and manages to create compelling sightlines as you enter and exit the area. Based on the equatorial town of Lamu, Kenya, Harambe village is the focal point of the visual storyline told on the way to the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction.
Approximately 10,000 square feet of the newly renovated space, completed November 2007, converted the previous counter food service to buffet service, and now features the themed food stations, (or pods). The entrance has been moved. The counters and queues from the original counter service restaurant that preceded the current incarnation were also removed to make way for kitchen and foodservice equipment revisions and two additional offices. Finishes include distressed themed whitewashed walls artfully damaged to look worn, tile floors, themed concrete floors, and an array of faux painting and props.
